Giving this mobile blogging another try...

been a while...

sorry! It has been a long time actually... but there are new craftinesses to report! :)

Knitting has slowed down since the holidays, but I've managed a couple of projects... a felted purse for a silent auction fund raiser put on by Zonta to raise money for a scholarship fund for women. Also another set of wristies for possibly me... still need some blocking though. I have 3 new babies to knit hats for, so we'll see if that happens.

Toilet seats have gained momentum! I have launched FoxyPotty (thank you Jodie for helping brainstorm the name :) on etsy.com... new shop is: http://www.etsy.com/shop/KnottyTemptations and it now has a facebook page you can be a fan of if you'd like: http://www.facebook.com/pages/FoxyPotty

I have 4 new seats up for sale, and I've sold 2 since the start... a cool Elvis on a blue translucent seat for my friend Barbara's husband (happy birthday!), and a custom seat with a sweet little pi-up for my friend Jaquiline.

knitting for the holidays

Well, I don't know about you, but the holidays came and went WAY too fast for me this year. I found time to make a couple projects as gifts, but not much else. Ariel got a fine a pair of fingerless gloves in my favorite color of celery yarn of silk and alpaca. For some reason I didn't think to get a picture of these... maybe she will send me one ;)

My cousin Nick is an avid hunter and said he could use something to keep him warm while out in the cold. So Tom helped me pick an appropriate color for a hunter and I found a simple cable pattern in knitty.com to create my first ever cabled creations (Ariel's were my second project, also cables ;) The Arm warmers were strictly from a pattern, but then I adapted that pattern into the hat pattern. I really love how they turned out!

flushing for charity

Mom and a friend had asked me to donate a seat for their pet charities last October... this is what they got. "Sitting Pretty" was for Mom's Zonta silent auction fund raiser for their scholarship fund (empowering women to go to college ;).

This floral seat, while not as fun as a pin-up girl is probably more appropriate for a pre-school fundraiser.

I love how the wood seat frames the "art".. let me know what you think!

I found my blog!

Actually I found both of them... crazy. I'm not remembering off hand my passwords, etc for my old blog, so I'm going to focus on this one. I have some new craft projects to post, so keep your eyes out for them :)

car issues

oh man do I hate taking my car in for service. I had it in about 4 months ago, and yesterday I got a call form the parts department "your sparkplugs have come in"... What?! They charged me for the parts and never installed them!! Freaking crazy! Long story short, they are now installing them for free... hopefully I get the car washed too!

knotty temptations

so a few years back I decided to give knitting a try... holy cow! I was addicted almost instantly. I think I have knit at least 50 hats in the last few years. I love hats, they are the perfect size project... long enough to make something of substance and use, but short enough to finish in a few hours. I can try out new yarns, new paterns, etc with hats adn get through several projects in a short period of time. I end up giving most away. I have sold a few (and bought more yarn with the $$ ;)... it's always fun to have someone exclaim how much they love the hat your wearing or to see a friend wear their hat happily because they love it. Anyway... this is one of my latest hats I made during a 2 day set of all day meetings at work. Knitting helps me stay awake for these kinds of meetings adn helps me focus on what is being presented (instead of surfing the web or daydreaming about where I'd rather be). I made it from Debbie Bliss cashmerino (yummy!) remains from a sweater I recently completed (Tubey from knitty.com).

more flushing

Here's a seat I created for Heather's daughters a few years back for Christmas... it says "Darling you look fabulous"... since the seat has been installed she's redecoraded the room in pink and orange... it looks great! :)

flush...

For those that don't know me well, one of my favorite crafty projects are decorated toilet seats. One of the most fabulous people I know, Lisa, taught me this craft... my toilets display her works, both of which are stunning pieces I enjoy every time I use the loux (is that how you spell that?) Anyway, I'm tossing around the idea of starting a side biz where you could choose your trim colors and art and I would make a custom seat for you. If this is something that would interest you, please comment with your oppinion on how much you might pay or expect to pay for such a custom item (thanks!!). Anyway... here is one of my creations.

This seat I created for my friend Heather this last Christmas... she loves irises and has them all over her purple themed bathroom... it fit in perfect!

getting started... again

man... I'm not sure if I'm cut out for blogging. I've tried this before and only stuck with it a short while. I can't even remember what it was called (oh, I AM bad!) So we'll see how this goes...
